Keywords:

The funeral industry in Indonesia has experienced significant growth, driven by demographic shifts, rising affluence, and changing consumer preferences. This study conducts a comparative analysis of two distinct funeral business models: the luxury-oriented San Diego Hills Memorial Park and the Sharia-compliant Al-Azhar Memorial Garden. Using a qualitative approach and the Business Model Canvas framework, the research examines their operational strategies, ethical alignment, and accessibility. Findings reveal that Sharia-compliant businesses prioritize affordability, community welfare, and adherence to Islamic principles, enhancing consumer trust and inclusivity. Conversely, luxury funeral providers focus on exclusivity and personalization, appealing to affluent markets but facing challenges in accessibility. The study highlights the broader applicability of Sharia principles in fostering ethical and sustainable business practices, while also addressing the challenges of affordability and scalability. These insights contribute to the development of inclusive regulatory frameworks and offer benchmarks for innovation in culturally and ethically sensitive industries.
